International festival of folklore and world cultures in Felletin
Since its creation in 1978, the Danses, Musiques et Voix du Monde festival has made Felletin a crossroads of world cultures every summer. For a week in August, about ten folk groups from all corners of the globe share their musical and choreographic traditions with the public of Creuse. The festival is affiliated with CIOFF (International Council of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts), an official partner of UNESCO.
The festival offers a dense program: evening shows, street parades through the town center of Felletin, dance initiation workshops, festival village with crafts and gastronomy, and street entertainment. The 2024 edition (42nd edition) hosted groups from Laos, Uganda, Dagestan, Serbia, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Sardinia, North Macedonia, and Lebanon.
Before the health crisis, the festival attracted up to 30,000 spectators throughout the week. Despite difficult periods related to a lack of volunteers and resources, the festival has managed to relaunch and remains a major event in the cultural life of Creuse, driven by passionate volunteers and the support of local authorities.
The 44th edition of the Danses, Musiques et Voix du Monde festival will be held in early August 2026 in Felletin. The festival will host about ten international folk groups for a week of shows, street parades, dance workshops, and cultural exchanges, continuing the tradition of openness to the world of this CIOFF-affiliated festival.
