Street Arts by the Estuary

The Festival Avis de Temps Fort is an annual gathering for street arts that transforms the left bank of the Lorient estuary into an open-air stage. Every year, during the Ascension weekend, the towns of Port-Louis, Locmiquélic, Riantec, and Gâvres host performing arts companies for two days of free outdoor performances.

Dance, Theater, Circus, and Mime

The festival's program covers the entire spectrum of street arts:

• Contemporary dance and urban dances in public spaces
• Street theater and itinerant theater
• Contemporary circus: acrobatics, juggling, balancing
• Mime and gestural arts
• Puppet shows and visual forms

The invited companies come from all over France and present creations specially adapted to public spaces and the maritime landscapes of the estuary.

A Completely Free Festival

All performances at the Festival Avis de Temps Fort are completely free, with no tickets or reservations required. This total freeness is at the heart of the festival's philosophy, which champions live art that is accessible to everyone, without economic or cultural barriers.

Navigate Between Performances

The festival's originality lies in its free maritime transport system. Boats connect the different performance sites between Port-Louis, Locmiquélic, Riantec, and Gâvres, allowing spectators to travel across the estuary between shows. This system makes travel an integral part of the festive experience.

A Multigenerational Festival

Avis de Temps Fort is aimed at all audiences regardless of age. Families, children, teenagers, and adults gather in the streets and on the quays to share the joy of live performance. The companies offer artistic forms that appeal to all ages, from shows for young audiences to more demanding performances.

An Inter-municipal Partnership

The festival is the result of a partnership between four municipalities on the left bank of the estuary, under the initiative of the Town of Port-Louis. This inter-municipal cooperation makes it possible to offer a large-scale event for the entire area, enhancing the cultural appeal of the left bank.
