U Mele in Festa, the Murzo Honey Fair

The Murzo Honey Festival, known as U Mele in Festa in Corsican, is a rural fair held every autumn in the streets of the village of Murzo, in South Corsica, nestled at the foot of the Sposata in the Liamone valley.

A showcase for Corsican AOP honey

The fair was founded in 1997 by a group of volunteers and developed in partnership with the Association Saint-Laurent, the AOP "Miel de Corse – Mele di Corsica" Syndicate, the FFRAAC, the Corsica Regional Natural Park, and the local municipality. It highlights the six AOP honeys of Corsica: spring, spring maquis, maquis honeydew, chestnut grove, summer maquis, and autumn.

It is the first autumn fair on the FFRAAC calendar, whose label mandates that all products must be Corsican, prohibits reselling, and requires every stand to be inspected at each edition.

A hundred exhibitors, 10,000 visitors

Beekeepers, producers, artisans, and associations from all over Corsica set up in the village for the day, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors. The 2025 edition featured 110 exhibitors, including 24 beekeepers.

The village is also home to A Casa di u Mele, the House of Corsican Honey, which is open year-round. It serves as an interpretation center for the Corsica Regional Natural Park, featuring exhibitions, an educational beehive, a honey-plant garden, and workshops. On the day of the fair, association volunteers prepare a meal based on local honey products, available by reservation.

An entirely volunteer-run organization

Setting up the fair requires 60 volunteers, including 10 dedicated to cleanup and catering. This is what led the Association Saint-Laurent to cancel the 2026 edition and schedule the fair's 30th anniversary for Sunday, September 26, 2027.
