The Foire aux Vins d'Amboise is an unmissable wine event that takes place every summer around August 15th in the royal city of Amboise. This event showcases the wines of the AOC Touraine-Amboise appellation, one of the most prestigious in the Loire Valley, recognized since 1954.

A Unique Tasting Venue

The unique feature of this fair is its exceptional tasting location: the cellars of the Château d'Amboise. Winemakers from the appellation welcome visitors in this historic underground setting, offering an extraordinary tasting experience. The natural coolness of the cellars and the atmosphere of the place create ideal conditions for appreciating the dry and mellow white wines, full-bodied reds, and fruity rosés of the AOC Touraine-Amboise.

The Touraine-Amboise Terroir

The AOC Touraine-Amboise extends over ten communes along both banks of the Loire, east of the city of Amboise. It has been a specific appellation since its separation from the AOC Touraine in 1954. The current annual production is around 4,000 hectoliters, divided between red, rosé, and still white wines. The main grape varieties are Chenin Blanc for whites and Gamay, Côt, and Cabernet Franc for reds and rosés.

Local Products Market

In addition to wine tastings, a market of local and artisanal products is set up on Place Michel Debré, in the heart of Amboise. Visitors can discover Touraine's gastronomic specialties: cheeses, cured meats, honeys, jams, and other local delicacies. This market enhances the gourmet dimension of the event and allows for a prolonged discovery of local flavors.

The Foire aux Vins d'Amboise is a free event, open to all, which attracts many wine and gastronomy enthusiasts every year. Organized by the Syndicat des Vignerons d'Amboise (Amboise Winemakers' Association), the fair demonstrates the region's wine dynamism and contributes to promoting the Touraine-Amboise appellation to a wide audience.
