La Bamboche: The Guinguette Spirit on the Banks of the Loiret
Since 2021, the town of Olivet has hosted La Bamboche every summer, an open-air festival with the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional French guinguette, nestled in the lush greenery of Parc du Poutyl along the Loiret river. This popular festive event was born from the merger of two local cultural initiatives: the "Les Moulins à Parole" festival and the "Tout un programme" summer events.
A Festival Born from the Post-Covid Spirit
Conceived in late 2020 by the Culture and Events department of the Olivet town hall, La Bamboche was designed as an optimistic response to the health crisis, with a desire to rebuild social bonds in the open air. The term "retro-contemporary" was chosen to symbolize the hope of returning to a normal, festive life. From its first edition in 2021, featuring headliners Têtes Raides and Tanguy Pastureau, the festival attracted 8,000 spectators.
An Eclectic and Accessible Program
Throughout the month of July, from Wednesday to Sunday, La Bamboche offers around forty shows spread across several areas of the park: the Scène Guinguette, the Théâtre de verdure, Le Plateau and the Plaine for street arts, the Terrasse du château for Thursday DJ sets, and the Gare à bateau for young audiences. The program blends concerts (French chanson, pop, folk, jazz, world music), theater, street arts, circus, comedy, and open-air cinema every Friday night at 10:00 PM. The vast majority of shows are free and do not require reservations, with only the festival's main headliner being a ticketed event.
Headliners Through the Years
- 2021: Têtes Raides (30th anniversary), Tanguy Pastureau
- 2022: Thomas Fersen, Tom Villa
- 2023: Les Frangines, Marie-Flore, Le Chocomedy (Franjo, Marie Reno, Pierre Thévenoux, Edgar Yves)
- 2024: MPL, Silly Boy Blue, Sanseverino, Alexis Le Rossignol
- 2025: Aliocha Schneider, Christophe Mali, Amandine Lourdel, Mountain Men
- 2026: Cœur de Pirate, Debout sur le Zinc, Les Wriggles, KOSMA
La Bambinoche: A Festival Within a Festival for Kids
Every Wednesday, La Bambinoche welcomes the youngest visitors to the Gare à bateau with storytelling, puppet shows, object theater, and artistic workshops at 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. These free activities, planned since the very first edition, make La Bamboche a truly family-friendly and intergenerational event.
The Guinguette Vibe
The Bar à Bamboche, run by Mamie Miam Miam, is the festival's beating heart: it opens on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM and from Thursday to Sunday from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM. La Petite Brasse offers burgers and ice cream from Monday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM, and food trucks are on-site from Thursday to Sunday (burgers, pizzas, crêpes, vegetarian options). Picnics are allowed in the rest of the park. The large, convivial tables under the string lights in the trees create a unique atmosphere by the water.
Ever-Growing Success
Since its inception, La Bamboche has seen a steady increase in attendance: 8,000 visitors in 2021, over 10,000 in 2022, and 13,000 in 2023. The festival was nominated for the 2024 Loiret Tourism Awards, reflecting its rapid integration into the department's cultural and tourist landscape.
