La Déjantée, Vassivière's crazy race

From 2012 to 2018, La Déjantée gathered hundreds of runners every autumn on Vassivière Island for a unique obstacle race. Over a 12 km course, participants faced about thirty obstacles that took them through mud, lake water, and even piles of manure. The spirit was not about competition but about self-transcendence and conviviality.

A race for everyone

La Déjantée could be run individually or in a team, making it an ideal adventure for friends, family, or colleagues. The obstacles were designed to be accessible to all fitness levels, with always the possibility to bypass the most difficult ones. The atmosphere was decidedly festive and good-natured.

An event rooted in the territory

The exceptional setting of Lac de Vassivière and its island offered an ideal playground for this atypical race. La Déjantée attracted up to 3,000 participants during its best editions and contributed to the sporting animation of the Creuse territory, in conjunction with local tourism and sports stakeholders.

The end of an adventure

After its 7th edition on September 22, 2018, La Déjantée bid farewell. Over the years, the race had seen its attendance decrease (from approximately 3,000 to 1,500 participants at the starting line), a decline notably linked to the proliferation of similar obstacle races throughout France. The organizers announced that it was the last edition. However, Lac de Vassivière continues to host other sporting events (Tour du Lac de Vassivière, XTERRA Nouvelle-Aquitaine).
