About La Magnifique
La Magnifique Society is a contemporary music festival created in 2017 by La Cartonnerie, Reims' Contemporary Music Venue, and Césaré, a center for contemporary music creation. For three days, the festival brought together around forty pop, rock, electro, hip-hop, and French chanson artists at Parc de Champagne, a 22-hectare park classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. After a break in 2024 (Paris Olympic Games) and the cancellation of the 2025 edition, the festival has been discontinued in its current form. The City of Reims has launched an open procedure to allow, starting in 2026, the organization of a new festival at Parc de Champagne with a potentially different format — no edition has been announced with specific dates to date.
A festival born from Reims' ambition
Created in 2017 by La Cartonnerie, Reims' Contemporary Music Venue, and Césaré, a center for contemporary music creation, La Magnifique Society immediately captivated the public with its first edition, attracting 12,000 people. The festival was recognized from its inception with the award for best «small festival» at the Festival Awards, confirming the relevance of its artistic positioning and its local roots.
Parc de Champagne, an exceptional setting
The festival was held at Parc de Champagne, a 22-hectare park classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site under the Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars designation. This green and prestigious setting offered a unique environment for festival-goers, with several stages spread throughout the park, catering areas, and relaxation zones. The 2019 edition welcomed 20,000 spectators over three days; the 2023 edition (June 23-25), approximately 23,000.
An eclectic and audacious program
La Magnifique Society distinguished itself with a rich and eclectic program, mixing international headliners and new discoveries. Pop, rock, electro, hip-hop, French chanson, world music: the festival explored all facets of contemporary musical creation. The forty artists programmed each year reflected the desire to offer a diverse musical experience accessible to all audiences.
Current format discontinued after 2023
The festival did not take place in 2024 (due to proximity to the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games) or in 2025. The organizers explained in the regional press (France 3 Grand Est) that they had «reached the end of a model»: despite a €500,000 subsidy from the City of Reims, the festival incurred losses of €300,000 to €400,000 per edition. La Cartonnerie announced the discontinuation of the festival in its historical format.
