Free street arts and live performance festival in the heart of the village of Lye
Les Lyelliputiennes is a free street arts festival held every summer in Lye, a small village in the Indre region. Since 2016, residents and volunteers have opened their village to culture for all, from professional circus, street theater, puppet, and music performances to creative and fun workshops for children and teenagers. Accessible from 7 months to 107 years old, this friendly festival offers a full day of artistic discoveries, encounters, and sharing in a rural setting.
Since 2016, the village of Lye in the Indre region has hosted Les Lyelliputiennes every summer, a completely free street arts festival open to all audiences. Born from the desire of the residents to make culture accessible in rural areas, this village festival offers a quality professional program in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Throughout the day, professional companies take over the village streets and squares to offer performances of circus, street theater, puppetry, clowning, and music. The shows are accessible to all ages, "from 7 months to 107 years old," and take place in various locations throughout the village, creating an open-air artistic trail.
In parallel with the performances, creative and fun workshops are offered throughout the day for children and teenagers. Led by local associations and volunteer residents, these workshops allow young people to discover different artistic and manual practices in a spirit of sharing and discovery.
Les Lyelliputiennes is also a moment of village conviviality. Food and drink areas are set up, where you can eat and drink using the "lyen," the festival's local currency. These meeting places encourage exchanges between festival-goers, artists, and residents in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
What makes Les Lyelliputiennes unique is its deeply civic and participatory roots. The festival is entirely organized by volunteers from the village and surrounding areas, united by the common desire to open Lye to culture and create social connections. Accessibility is at the heart of the project: all shows and workshops are free and accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Year after year, Les Lyelliputiennes has established itself as an unmissable summer event in the cultural life of the Indre region. This human-sized festival demonstrates that it is possible to offer a demanding and joyful cultural experience in the heart of rurality, by relying on the energy and generosity of its residents.
