Fête de la Musique in Chalon-sur-Saône

Just like everywhere else in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns Chalon-sur-Saône into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music takes over public spaces for free to celebrate the first day of summer, from morning serenades until the middle of the night, featuring all genres for all audiences.

Seven venues in the heart of the city

For the 2026 edition, the City of Chalon-sur-Saône is spreading its program across seven locations: place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, place du Port-Villiers, place Saint-Vincent, place de Beaune (dedicated to electronic music), place du Théâtre, Espace des Arts (5B avenue Nicéphore-Niépce), and the Conservatoire (1 rue Olivier-Messiaen). The first four squares are those featured on the official city poster.

Batucadas, bars, and street musicians

Between the stages, five batucada processions will parade through the pedestrian streets with Bat'Macadam (samba reggae) and Unidos da Batida (samba carioca), moving from place de Beaune to the Hôtel de Ville via the Grande Rue, rue aux Fèvres, and place du Châtelet. Added to this are concerts in the city center's bars and restaurants—Grande Rue, rue du Châtelet, rue aux Fèvres, rue des Tonneliers, place du Châtelet—as well as the many musicians performing freely in the streets.

Every year, the City selects local bands wishing to perform on stage and publishes a brochure detailing the hour-by-hour schedule as the event approaches.
