Saône en Bulles: The BD Celebration in Saône-et-Loire

Since 2019, Saône en Bulles has brought together comic strip enthusiasts every year in Farges-lès-Chalon, on the outskirts of Chalon-sur-Saône. This friendly and accessible festival has established itself in just a few editions as a major BD event in Burgundy, attracting renowned authors and an ever-growing audience to the municipal hall of Jandelles.

Talented Authors in Attendance

Each edition brings together about thirty authors and artists from all over France and Europe. Visitors can meet the creators, get their favorite albums signed, and discover the latest releases. Prestigious names from Franco-Belgian comics and manga mingle with emerging talents, offering a rich and varied panorama of contemporary comic strip creation.

The 2025 edition notably hosted Pascal Croci for his adaptation of Jane Eyre, Tommaso Bennato (The Witcher), the brothers Jean-Marc and Eric Stalner reunited for the first time at the same festival, as well as Dragan Paunovic (Samurai origines) and many other international authors.

The BD of the Year Award

One of the festival's highlights is the election of the BD of the Year, a unique award whose winner is chosen by the visitors themselves. Throughout the weekend, everyone can vote for their favorite album from a selection of works. The award ceremony, around 7 PM on Saturday, is a festive and anticipated moment that concludes the first day.

A Friendly and Popular Festival

Beyond signings and exhibitions, Saône en Bulles cultivates its own spirit of conviviality. The traditional football match between comic strip authors and festival-goers has become an emblematic moment of the festival, where artists and readers share the field in good spirits. On-site catering and the Saturday evening dinner (by reservation) extend the exchanges between authors and the public in a warm atmosphere.
