The gourmet event around the black diamond of Périgord
Every winter, in January, Sarlat-la-Canéda celebrates the black truffle of Périgord during a gourmet and friendly weekend. The Truffle Festival brings together producers, chefs and enthusiasts around the precious Tuber melanosporum, a true gastronomic emblem of Périgord Noir.
On the Place de la Liberté, the award-winning truffle market connects professionals selling their finest specimens. The market is controlled and supervised, guaranteeing every buyer, even a novice, the acquisition of this exceptional product at its fair price.
At the Ancien Évêché, a dozen chefs from Sarlat and starred chefs offer culinary demonstrations in a kitchen set up for the occasion. Visitors can also discover truffle hunting workshops, conferences on truffle growing and taste the famous "Croustous", a sort of Périgordian tapas with truffle and foie gras.
The Truffle Festival returns on January 17 and 18, 2026, from 9 am to 5 pm. The Group of Black Périgord Truffle Producers will offer numerous activities on Place Boissarie, with the controlled market from 9 am to 12 pm. Information at www.sarlat-tourisme.com.
The festival takes place on the Place de la Liberté and at the Ancien Évêché in Sarlat-la-Canéda (24200).
Free access to the market and events. Some workshops require registration.
