Convention of geek, manga and pop cultures at the Parc des Expositions de Lorient
Geek Life Lorient is a convention for geek and Asian cultures that was launched in 2025 at the Parc des Expositions de Lanester, near Lorient. The event is part of the Geek Life network, which organizes five festivals dedicated to geek and Asian cultures across France. The first Lorient edition attracted 5,500 enthusiasts, confirming the appetite of the Morbihan public for this universe.
The festival takes over nearly 3,000 m2 of the Parc des Expositions, transformed into a vast playground for fans of manga, anime, video games, comics, and pop culture. Visitors can discover themed exhibitions, browse the stands of exhibitors (figurines, manga, merchandise, handmade creations), participate in workshops, and meet prestigious guests from the geek world.
The Geek Life Cosplay Contest is one of the highlights of the convention: a national cosplay competition that showcases the best talents, with prizes including financial rewards, theme park stays, and professional cosplay materials. In parallel, the RetroActive exhibition offers over 25 playable consoles tracing the history of video games from Pong to the 2010s. K-pop performances and a dedicated children's area complete the program.
Each edition hosts renowned guests from the geek world: actors, voice actors, YouTubers, manga authors, and illustrators. The first edition notably welcomed Bernard Minet (musician and actor), Marcus (video game specialist), and Fred Zolf (aka "Sparadrap" from the web series Noob). Autograph sessions and meet-and-greets are organized throughout the weekend.
Geek Life Lorient aims to be a family-friendly event accessible to all. A dedicated children's area offers activities suitable for the youngest, while the animations (manga drawing workshops, video game initiation, cosplay photocall) appeal to all ages. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, in a spirit of sharing and celebrating common passions.
